There’s nothing better than a good cup of coffee! Whether I’m running into work, or catching up with friends, a great coffee shop can really get my day off to the right start.
I’m lucky enough to be in a town with so many great coffee shops to choose from. Here are my Top 5 Coffee Shops in Princeton, NJ and why:
If you are from Princeton, you know Small World Coffee, and for good reason! Small World is a Princeton staple that’s been around since 1993. It now has a few locations, and you can get their coffee at other local establishments like Jammin’ Crepes. My favorite drink from Small World is a NOLA (a New Orleans style iced coffee that’s the perfect amount of sweet…no need to add any cream or sugar, just ask them for a double NOLA and enjoy).
Chez Alice is also a Princeton staple, I have been going there since my high school days. It is newly renovated and the perfect place to grab a breakfast sandwich and coffee with a friend. They offer a wide assortment of French pastries, breakfast foods, and even lunch items in addition to their coffee offerings. I love their almond milk latte and egg and cheese sandwich on a croissant!
Sakrid is a newcomer to town, opening in 2019. However, it’s prime location on the corner of Nassau and Chambers and hipster vibes have already won the town over. It’s packed every time I go. It feels very “Brooklyn”, they have a simple coffee and espresso menu but really, sometimes that’s all you need! If you’re looking for a good coffee without all the frills, Sakrid is worth checking out. Plus their space is gorgeous, clean lines, and lots of windows letting in natural light (and letting you people watch at one of the busiest intersections in town).
Rojos Roastery means business. With two prime locations (one in Palmer Square in Princeton and the other in New Hope, PA), you can be sure that locals are familiar with Rojos. They roast their own coffee at their lab in Lambertville, NJ. It is sustainably grown and carefully roasted to get that perfect cup of coffee every time. You can be sure that when you drink their coffee, not only are you supporting local, but you are supporting sustainable practices. Not to mention, their coffee is amazing! I highly recommend next time you are doing some errands or shopping in the square.
Éclair Café
Well, who doesn’t love a pretty, Parisian inspired cafe? I certainly do! Located on Witherspoon Street, they offer good coffee and a beautiful ambiance. They also have the most beautiful eclair selection I’ve ever seen. Next time you are in town it’s definitely worth stopping in. I love the hazelnut latte with almond milk.
Now, if you are more of a hot chocolate fan my recommendation will always be The Bent Spoon. I love the classic hot chocolate with classic marshmallows.
If you are looking for a more substantial lunch spot, Cafe Vienna has some great lunch and coffee options. Looking for brunch options, check my Brunch blog out here or my Princeton Food Blog here.
